Founded in 2010, Surgionix was formed to develop a new innovative ground breaking technology which challenges century old surgical techniques. The SLICK Drill Bit System.
In its short life span, Surgionix has managed to bring the SLICK Drill Bit to market along with investing boldly in the research and development of several additional innovative products.
Treading its own path, Surgionix has gained the experience and contacts necessary to excel in this niche research, development and manufacturing industry.

Dr Pranesh Kumar MBBS, MRCS – Worldwide Chairman & President
Company founder Dr Kumar is a trained doctor and an orthopedic specialist. His interest in research and development has led to several inventions on which he holds patents. He believes that real invention comes from professionals actively dealing with patients. He has special interest in developing innovative product. He brings a surgeon inventor perspective to the board.
Steve Hamilton – Senior Director & International President
Steve has held various professional director and senior management positions in market-leading medical technology & healthcare businesses. He has a history of leading commercialization of innovative medical technologies in challenging markets. He has served on the Asia-Pacific management board of a large multinational company and consulted to a variety of device manufacturers. Steve encourages healthcare-professionals to develop innovative technology solutions that transform the lives of patients around the world.
Thomas Ferro – Vice President - USA Business Development
As vice president of business development, Tom is the primary point of contact within Surgionix for US sales and marketing. Tom has held various senior positions in international sales, business development, and management over the last 20 years for several fortune 500 companies including Zimmer-Biomet and J&J DePuy-Synthes.
Bikram Singh – Managing Director, Europe
Bikram has a wealth of experience in many Business functions ranging from Sales/Marketing & Logistics to Business planning and Management. He has worked for some world renowned MNCs in the past in Industry verticals ranging from Construction to Financial Services. His knowledge of the European market coupled with his extraordinary skills in building businesses from the scratch is driving us forward in the European market.
Nigel Curteis – General Manager
Nigel is responsible for the overall day to day management of the Surgionix team. He works closely with research and development, production, finance, sales and maketing; ensuring business deliverables are managed through from concept to point of sale. Nigel has over 20 years of experience in business management and finance across a wide range of projects. Nigel's critical function is ensuring systems and processes are working smoothly for customers and that the Surgionix team are delivering production of products to the highest quality.
Troy Barston – Chief Engineer
After graduating Batchelor of Science Mechanical Engineering at California Sate University San Diego (1997) Troy worked as a design engineer within a number of orthopaedic device companies. Troy joined Surgionix in 2017 as our Chief Engineer. He is responsible for bringing innovative concepts to reality through product design, analysis, testing and research. With extensive experience in the medical technology manufacturing sector both in the USA and New Zealand, Troy is a significant asset within our team. Troy also performs the critical role of managing and on-going improvement of the Quality System within Surgionix.
